Recent topics can be found on a site's portal, as well as some of the announcements, or rules, or whatever you want on the Portal. Useful, eh?

I guess, but then again you can just press the "view posts since last visit" button to see the newest posts, thats what I use. and it doesent matter if you sign in or sign out, any posts made even during your on will show up if you havent seen them.
